Lord Byron, who gave the name to the domaine, will surely have realized the effect of driving away this melancholy wine. Charles Baudelaire made a small tour in the territories of naming Moulis in 1860. Odilon Redon, who will represent the lyrics Spleen and Idéal of the Flowers of Evil was a neighbor of the domaine. Not present in the 1855 classification, the Château Chasse-Spleen obtained in 1932 the mention of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, reconfigured in 2003, which does justice to its quality. This estate, with a long winemaking tradition, will be managed by Bernadette Villars since 1976, from her eldest daughter from 1992 to 1999 and her younger daughter since 2000. The domaine has 101 hectares and occupies the top of the gravel hills of Grand Poujeaux , from the well draining subsoil. Chasse-Spleen is a wine out of the ordinary, full expression of its denomination, with a strong personality as it preannounces the intense dress, the rich and powerful bouquet and the generous mouth.
